2018 Fall Trend Highlight: The Printed Scarf
We’re borrowing some fashion notes from a slightly older, and definitely more sophisticated generation. What could be described as the “granny scarf”, printed silk scarves worn tied around the neck are a must-try trend this late fall. Parisian poodle-doting ladies and the fashion elite have been sporting the neckerchief for decades. This season, the rest of the fashion world is catching up.
Mix n’ Match Printed Scarves
When wearing a printed scarf, wear it as if it were a neutral solid color. By this I mean, wear it with other prints. Don’t be shy to mismatch prints and textures. Wearing a pair of plaid trousers? Balenciaga’s chain printed scarf would be the perfect finishing touch. Pair a floral scarf with a floral printed dress or stripes and checks.
Printed Scarves of the Runway
Gracing the Fall/Winter 2017 runways were a plethora of silky scarves of all types. Celine sent their models down in solid colored and extremely luxurious, loosely tied neck scarves mimicking a shawl-style collar. Versace went for a more-is-more look with its Spring 2018 Ready-To-Wear collection, topping off a same-print heavy ensemble with a headscarf reminiscent of Susan Sarandon in Thelma and Louise. Acne opted for a subtle, monochromatic approach to this hot trend.
